No, You Can’t

But maybe you don’t want to. Maybe I’ve tried so hard to relive the better times that I’ve forgotten about the times I have now. Maybe you do have to start over. That’s hard. I have to meet old friends; they all play different roles now. But I do too, and maybe that’s what I’ve forgotten the most. No one’s left me - I’ve left them. It shouldn’t sound so deliberate, but I was the one who chose the outbound train. We all did. I don’t regret it. But I never notice how I’ve changed; I only see it in others. It’s me too. Maybe it’s me most of all.

This kind of brings me back to square-one. It’s a process, no? If we can define anything, we have to define everything, so I must redefine. And re-emerge.

“And in the darkest night, if my memory serves me right, I’ll never turn back time: Forgetting you, but not the time...”

I have to agree with your thought wholeheartedly...I suppose I have never taken the time to reflect on the amount I have changed. It is quicker, and easier, to relax the blame on others and the amount they have changed. For the most part many of my struggles - and missings - of old friends has probably been a compromise of change on the two parties, and my unwillingness to look at the people we are today. An interesting thought, one which I will have to look more into. I do know this, the changes happen - and we can't go back - there is a truth in understanding we may never have what we once had so many years ago.

"I guess the less things change, the more they never seem the same."

This is very off topic, but I saw a Big 10 Towing truck last night and I waved to the person in the truck for you in case it was your cousin. I highly doubt it was, but you know...
